FAQ

Frequently asked questions.

Everything you need to know about pricing, plans, and getting started with Pippin.

About our pricing.

What counts as a "door"?
A door is a strata lot or unit — an individual owner's property within a building. Common areas, parking stalls, and storage lockers don't count. For a 60-unit condo building, you'd have 60 doors.
Is there a contract or minimum term?
No annual contract required. Pippin is month-to-month — you can cancel at any time. We do offer discounts for annual prepayment; ask us about it.
Can I add buildings over time?
Add buildings whenever you're ready. Your monthly cost adjusts automatically when you add or remove buildings. There's no upfront commitment on portfolio size.
What's the $500 onboarding fee for Self-Managed plans?
It covers a dedicated onboarding session — we set up your building, import existing documents, add council members and owners, and walk you through your first meeting. Most buildings are running within 15 minutes, provided you have your documents and owner / tenant contact information so that we can invite them to the platform.
Do you offer discounts for large portfolios?
Yes — firms managing 50+ buildings qualify for volume pricing. Book a call and we'll put together a custom quote.
Can I refer self-managed buildings as a PM firm?
Absolutely — many PM firms use this to stay connected with buildings they can't take on directly. Referred buildings pay the Self-Managed rate and you maintain the relationship.
What about rental firms?
Rental pricing is custom — we're in an early partnership phase building the rental-specific layer. Learn more →

Onboarding & setup.

How long does onboarding take?
Most buildings are fully operational within 15 minutes, provided you have your documents and owner / tenant contact information so that we can invite them to the platform. We set up your building, import existing documents, add council members and owners, and walk you through your first workflows. PM firms onboarding multiple buildings can typically do 3–5 buildings in a single session.
Do I need to install anything?
No — Pippin is entirely web-based. It works on any device with a browser. Council members are expected to log in to make full use of the features — if you've used Outlook, Gmail, or Slack, Pippin will be just as easy. Owners don't have to log in if they don't want to, but they won't be able to fully use all the amazing features Pippin offers!
Can I import our existing documents?
Yes — we actually encourage it. At a minimum, we recommend uploading all the documents you'd receive as part of a real estate transaction if you were buying into the building — bylaws, financials for the last 24 months, and everything else you're legally entitled to per the BC Strata Property Act. Pippin's AI will classify each document, rename it consistently, and file it in the correct location.
What happens if we want to leave Pippin?
Your data is yours. We provide a full export of all documents, issue history, meeting records, and communications. There are no lock-in penalties and no data held hostage.

How Pippin works.

What's the difference between the PM and Self-Managed plans?
Both plans include the full platform — AI email triage, issue tracking, electronic voting, meetings, document management, Ask Pippin, digests, and notices. The PM plan adds portfolio and team management for firms handling multiple buildings. Self-Managed is priced for a single building run by a volunteer council.
How does email triage work?
Every email to your building's address is read by AI, categorized into one of 40+ issue types, and routed to the right person. Pippin opens issues, answers owner questions with cited sources, sends forms, and escalates emergencies — all before your team sees it. Learn more →
How does electronic voting work?
Council members vote with one click directly from email — no portal login required. Pippin tracks quorum in real time, sends escalating reminders to non-voters, and records every outcome with full audit trail. Decisions made between meetings are queued for ratification. Learn more →
What is Ask Pippin?
Ask Pippin is an AI knowledge base that answers questions about your building's bylaws, past decisions, and BC strata law. Every answer includes citations to source documents. It's available to managers, council members, and owners — each scoped to their permission level. Please note: Ask Pippin is an AI feature — users are responsible for verifying answers against the cited sources. Learn more →
Can owners see everything?
No — every role gets exactly the access level they need to do their job, and nothing more. Owners can view their own unit information, published notices, and issues they've submitted — but never another owner's personal details. Council members get broader access, including owner contact information when needed for emergency situations or governance duties. Strata managers see everything across their assigned buildings to manage day-to-day operations effectively.
